044: Sachsenhausen

September 15, 2010

Saturday the 4th of September, 2010

Again… Not the most pleasant photo subject but an important one nonetheless. Today we visited Sachsenhausen- the first forced labor camp used in The Second World War. This is a photo of the boarder of the camp. If you stood on the gravel here you would be shot dead by a guard positioned in one of many look out towers. The first man to be shot here had his hat knocked off by a guard and told to go and get it. He was shot dead the second he stepped onto the gravel.

😦 It’s so horrible to think that despite the amount of pain and suffering people have gone through, we still don’t learn and it keeps happening.
