Farewell WordPress

January 27, 2011

Life is funny. If you had asked me this time last year where I expected to be right at this moment my response would have been “enjoying my final few weeks in London and preparing for my three month trip through Africa” or something along those lines. It probably would never have been “living the life of a gypsy back in the not so Sunshine States capital city of Brisbane as I wait for flood waters to subside and electricity to be restored.”… or something along those lines. It was never in the plan for me to return to Australia in the final few days of Twenty-Ten, nor was it imagined in anyone’s wildest nightmares that our beautiful city would be submerged under a growing wave of murky water, destroying anything and everything in its path. These things don’t happen to us. These things don’t happen to me. But here we all are.

A lot of life changing events have lead me to be where I am right now, hearts were broken and sadly lives were lost. The realisation that time does not stand still for anyone to catch their breath let alone grieve. We have no choice but to pick ourselves up and rebuild our lives.

So here I am, leaving my last blog behind and starting a fresh. Some may call it reckless abandon, but it is something I have been pondering for quite some time now and I hope my loyal followers will support this.

Twenty- Eleven is wide open for me. This year is all about building my portfolio, re-establishing friendships and moving forward. I have big plans for this blog so I hope you will stick around and forgive me for never finishing my previous project… Who knows, perhaps I will return to it again one day… But for now I am laying it to rest as I start this new chapter of my life.

Between you and I… I am a little bit excited.

Lovely Links of Late

December 11, 2010

Hey dudes & dudettes,

How are you all doing? I have some photos to update for you later on this weekend but I thought I would share some links I have been loving lately.

The Yellow Bird Project was set up in 2006 by two friends from Montreal. Fresh out of the university oven, the Indie-Rock loving pair set out to follow in Bono’s footsteps and raise money and awareness amongst their hip peers (and not so young lovers of all things Indie and Rock n’ Roll). Combining two of our generations most beloved passions (arguably, of course) these philanthropic geniuses have persuaded their favorite bands to design shirts in order to be sold to raise money for the artists favorite charity. The likes of Bloc Party, Tegan and Sara, Little Boots, The Shins and even a bit of Aussie flavor with a shirt designed by Wolfmother (although their charity of choice is not an Australian one… Excuse me boys, why the heck not?) have put their hearts and souls into creating some pretty rad designs. At $25 a pop I urge you to buy one (or a million… watever). Not only are they cheaper than shirts you’d buy at the mall, you’d also be supporting a wide range of charities (helping gay and lesbian foundations, wild life associations, a myriad of yout support groups… etc etc) with your sweet new kit. Check it out : )

Killer Strawberry is an artist I discovered at Camden Markets a few weeks ago. His sketches are hilarious, sadistic and emotional. Some make you laugh, some make you sad, some make you uncomfortable but they are all brilliant.  My favorite are the Hell series. Individually the pieces are great but combined they represent a time line of complete honesty. I love them and plan on saving my pennies to buy a bunch!

Speak soon!

BIG LOVE! x
